mpc lcd screens

Not when they want you to buy a MPC2500 or 5000 or 1000!

There is a program for the Kurzweil samplers called KurzSee. It uses MIDI to bring the exact sampler LCD screen up in a window on your PC screen and lets you completely control the sampler via the mouse and keyboard. It uses MIDI control messages to do this and I'll bet it could be done on the MPC as well.

I might look into it as a possibility if you guys think that it would be of any use. If your LCD was gone, would you be okay using a PC to control the sampler?

the screen is not badly made... the screens with problems are all on old machines where people leave them on for hours at a time. all LCD's have a life span including your computer monitors.

the high price is due to the high demand and low supply (akai doesnt make or sell them as far as I know)

AKAI is trying to eliminate the whole replacement parts line for MPC2000XL & MPC2000 they almost have done it.

yea ur right akai wouldnt wana sell screens when theve got other products to hustle i still think theres a hella market for selling screens if someone had the know how to make them. my freind has got a 2000 with a useless screen its so bad he can hardly use it poor guy lol .

Shame on Numark...any good company will carry on support for their product for years to come even after it is discontinued, (cough this just shows how wack akai's new shit is) this positive customer support will get people to come back and/or reccomend to other people...I know I wont come back to akai if I see someting better (Linn Drum2? lol)
Akai are just pissed cos the new akai's aren't much better and the 2000/xl are still imo stronger machines..so what better way to kill it then by a bunch of gelous hartless a*holes who had nothin to do with it

Although many people use the MPC to get the workflow away form mouseclicking I guess this would be a good temporary solution.
Your post make me think of the MESA Software. It work for the s2000. I think thats a good strating point although the s2000 is a sampler with keygroups, ADSR etc.
I just found another software for editing AKAI samplers over SCSI. Its called Millenium

yup, i abused my last mpc by leaving it on too long. i definitely learned my lesson. but now my new one won't sample so i'm s.o.l. again..

does anybody know what type of screen is in the 2000s? is it a character lcd, or graphic? and the size, im guessing 240 x 64...

No its a matrix of 248x60 pixel. Good luck finding some.

thanks. Yea it looks less than promising. Does anybody know what the the ribbon/tape like part that connects the board to the lcd glass is called?

what about the DPS-12 screens? they seem to be the same. anyone tried that?
