madness speaks the truth. moreover, you never know how the gear you use is going to influence you in the long run... many people get an MPC cause they're into hip hop, or whatever, but i'm sure some people get into hip hop because of working with an MPC (i'm thinking of myself here). Reason may be cheap and cool and all, but if every song you make on it sounds like the Knight Rider theme then I don't care how much money you saved, it's still sh!t. On the other hand, don't buy an MPC just to show it off to your boys, or to trigger yer samples in cubase... there are other (and better) products to do those things (guns and novation style midi controllers, if you're wondering).
