Dude, look at the title and sub-title of the ebay listing. It says,
"Akai MPC2000xl 18GB SCSI Hard drive External MPC4000 DPS12 DPS16 Z8 storage Disk
1 Year sellers warranty! Includes cables and FREE SHIP"
It says 1 Year sellers warranty! You just dropped 119 dollars on this drive. Get in touch with this guy and tell him the drive does NOT work and you have a 1 year sellers warranty. The 14 days return was for a refund. But if the drive is defective, return and tell him to get you a working hard drive that is recognized by the MPC2000XL. I can tell you that the drive should at least be recognized by either 1.14 and 1.20. I have one with my MPC2000XL and have tried both versions. They work. You should not see jibberish on the screen. You should escalate to ebay based on false advertising. I guess anyone can say 1 years warranty and not honor it. A worthless warranty. If things do not turn out for you, you can always leave negative feedback ($119 worth of - feedback). Do not let him off the hook that easily. I am sorry but that is just too much money to throw away and let others know to beware this seller. Total bs.
LADiego wrote:i would imagine if the seller mentioned a 1 year warranty (certainly not a manufacturers warranty because there are really no new parts but really from seller to buyer) then this applies to the drive malfunctioning at any point during the 1 year then the assumption is that seller would have to give you a working drive. so assuming you get your XL sampler completely running properly and you get an issue with the drive, then the seller is on the hook for giving a working drive. correct?
i say you contact seller and get him to tell you exactly what the 1 year warranty is about (something that should have been asked before buying). remember the devil is in the details. i am usually leery about a 1 year warranty on anything sold on ebay. these type of sellers are usually not around long enough to honor anything. oh well.
it is totally up to you to do what feels right to you.

I got burned by one of these sd readers. Lost money. Stay away from pro_oem_stereo. Sure he's got 100% feedback but most of his feedback is as a buyer not seller. I was easily fooled. Consider cf cards instead of sd cards. Ther are plenty of cf cards out there.
