Flux302, all the IDE (read cheapo) card readers available are going to be non-hotswappable. Yes, it is a bummer, as hot swapping is a nice feature. We do sell two models of SCSI card reader drive that are hot-swappable - the Spyrus MCDISK-2 and the Microtech PCD-47B - these both have dual card slots and are hot-swappable. Very nice drives, the both of them, but probably out of your price range, since you are looking for a cheaper solution.

On the home page, near the top, we have a spot where you enter the manufacturer and model of your sampler and we show you all the products we offer for that sampler, as well as the maximum storage capacity on the various drive products. You might want to use that to see your options for the MPC2000XL.
If you decide you want to go with a non-hotswappable IDE card reader, you asked about cabling - for $10.00, we have an IDE install kit that has all the cabling you need as well as detailed installation instructions. This is called the KIT-IDE and can be found here:
