Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Flux302, all the IDE (read cheapo) card readers available are going to be non-hotswappable. Yes, it is a bummer, as hot swapping is a nice feature. We do sell two models of SCSI card reader drive that are hot-swappable - the Spyrus MCDISK-2 and the Microtech PCD-47B - these both have dual card slots and are hot-swappable. Very nice drives, the both of them, but probably out of your price range, since you are looking for a cheaper solution.

If you'd like more info about these drives, check out our website. On the home page, near the top, we have a spot where you enter the manufacturer and model of your sampler and we show you all the products we offer for that sampler, as well as the maximum storage capacity on the various drive products. You might want to use that to see your options for the MPC2000XL.

If you decide you want to go with a non-hotswappable IDE card reader, you asked about cabling - for $10.00, we have an IDE install kit that has all the cabling you need as well as detailed installation instructions. This is called the KIT-IDE and can be found here:

I'm always glad to answer any questions you might have, here or you can contact me directly.

Hi
I'm new on this forum and i took the time to read this topic from page 1 to find something about my problem and to not make some of you repet.
One year ago I bough a MCD drive on mpcstuff for my 2000XL and installed it "by the book". (1.20 OS and using SanDisk 1Gb CF). Everything was fine.
I moved it , last monday, and when i came back to home and turned it on i didn't get the 2secs green flash on the the card reader and on the LOAD MODE It says "no floppy device" when i was expecting "...ATAPI".
I opened the MPC to watch if something was disconnect, but did not find a problem.

Somebody may have any idea about this problem ??
Thank you

That message appears when either the CF adapter is broken, the cable is bad or you are using a CF card that is incompatible with the CF adapter. Did you just buy a new CF card? If not, unplug the IDE cable completely and then reconnect it. Possibly it has developed a short. If it is neither of those things (new card, bad cable), then either your CF adapter is messed up or the ATAPI buss in your XL is screwed up.
