Serious 2KXL PROBLEMS, Supreme Mod/Experts Please Assist!

Specs:
MPC 2000XL (8 OUTS)
32MB RAM
OS 1.14
EXTERNAL 2GIG SCSI HD
100 MB IOMEGA ZIP DRIVE
SCSI PIN ADAPTER

Problems (Trust me I'm not making this up!):
The Unit only works when it is sitting on an angle (raised slightly from the back). When it lays flat, it "hangs" on "detecting memory" and/or cant detect the SCSI devices. Also has problems w/sampling when it lays flat. I know this is crazy, but I need Supreme Moderator/Expert Member help on this one.

And I've read the Manual already with no luck. Thanks and please respond.

perhaps something is not connected properly... i mean inside the mpc..

If you feel confident enough,open her up and check your memory and all connections.Like Psi said somethings probably just not corrected properly or loose.

If it works on one angle but not on another, it's obiously NOT software. Therefore, it MUST be hard ware.

These guys are correct.

First thing, check ALL multi pin connections. Start with ribbon cable. Ensure that they are connected (the WHOLE ribbon)

It sounds as though when it's at and angle, it's making a connection. When it's straight, it's NOT.

Use the laws of gravity and it will tell you which pin set needs to be re-seated.

Is there any restart function to clear any code "glitches" that might be causing this problem? I'm starting to get the crazy
"0000 393848 0000 1B" random codes on the lcd screen now.

Supremes & Experts, does this mean the main board is shot & gone to hell? I also cant get total 32mb of memory consistently even though I do have 2 good 16mb chips installed (It sometimes says 18mb installed). Thanks and please assist.

Either one of your memory boards is faulty or it is not properly installed.

yes. try taking em out and reboot your mpc, then try each single one of them to figure out if it is one of the memory chips that causes the problem
