I wanted to know if it could be done on the 2000. So I hit him up and asked how he did it. He told me and I went ahead and tried.
Its really easy actually. But I figure before you do anything like this to your mpc, make sure your not gonna end up trying to sell it!
Well first I opened the mpc up. The screen was held down by two really small screws. I used an eyeglass screwdriver to unscrew them. After that, you are able to move the screen around a little but not much. I went ahead and tilted the screen to an angle that was comfortable for me...
Inside the hole where the screen was resting, there was a small piece of metal that sticks up on the right side. The bump sticks out enough so that the screen was able to rest on it without sliding down. Then, on the left side, I screwed back in the little screw half way so that some of it was sticking up. So that held the left side of the screen in place. So its now resting on the screw and the metal bump. The screen will not move down and is secure in place. It just happened to work out that way!
This is the picture of the screen right after I got it to stay in place.
Now after that, I thought about what a few folks and I talked about before I did it...What about dust? I read that jimbo was coming up with some kind of cover for the 1000. Well for the 2000, I wasnt able to come up with anything like that, but I was able to use the original screen cover that was glued to the MPC Case. I took the cover off the case but of course it was too wide to fit through the hole like the screen did. So I went ahead and cut around the edges (and in the process chipped a few small pieces off the cover! which isnt a big problem but be careful!) of the cover. Once I was finished cutting it to fit, it actually fit in the hole snuggly so it dosnt move or slide down. I had to cut it a couple times until I had it fitting good, but I did it. Then I slid it in until it was lined up with the screen and tapped it into place.
And this is how it came out
I understand several people are interested in trying this themselves since they saw Jimbo's mod job to his 1000 and some of them PM'd me about it. Well im here to show you that it can be done with the mpc 2000 as well. Like I said, I dont think you wanna do something like this if your planning on selling your mpc, but if its yours and your not selling it, maybe it can benefit you, too! I dont have to lean over it to see anymore. I can just sit back and do what I do.
