can someone tell me where to find this in the manual??

what page #s will i find the following info? if the manual is not very specific/helpful (like it sometimes is) could you elaborate? thanks

1) when you use the zone function to cut up a sample, how do you assign each zone to a specific pad? (is it that page that tells you about the "beatslice" function?)

2) how do i play a sequence by hitting a pad? or more specifically, how do i assign a sequence to a pad?

3) how do i sample the sounds from an external sound module (my roland xv-3080)? i don't have to mess around with midi to do this do i?

1. Select the zone you want to assign and press EDIT> scroll left to SECTION>NEW SOUND, you can name it whatever you want or just let the MPC name it> press DO IT.

2. Press the NEXT SEQ button> press PAD>you should see your sequences in the screen assigned in the order you loaded them up. Press the pad for the sequence you want to play next, it will change at the end of the current sequence. If you want it to switch before that press the SUDDEN soft key(F4). There might be another way of doing it but I'm not aware of it.

3. No, you don't need midi to sample sounds from your module, your module probably has an audition feature that plays the presets but it's usually a chord progression or something, not just the sound. If you have another controller(any old keyboard with a midi out jack will work, I guess you do need midi after all) then you can use it to trigger the sound you want and sample it into the MPC.

this must be on the xl cause the 2000 (classic ) cant do that shit

would people please specify what MPC they are talking about its so freaking confusing when people ask a aquestion specificaly for the 2000 and others are responding with tips on the XL. I just figured out after a few days that this was happening. I am not new to the MPC2000, I have had mine sometime but, I learned everything on my own ( oh yeah the manual helps)HELL I didnt even know you all exsisted on here. All my friends had 3000 or other rack samplers so they couldnt really help much on the learning end. I have been trying to figure out how to CHOP on the 2000 not the XL!!! I keep finding post ( CAUSE IM USING SEARCH FELLAS TAKE NOTE!) where people are mixing things up. Pretty anyoing for any ROOKIE and very annoying when there are those out there that say lame sh&%t like "read the manual." Hey I get what you're saying okay! You ever stop and think hey the 2000 probably dont say much about CHOPPING a sample cause they[AKAI] don't even know WTF anyone would want actualy do that for (well back then i guess) so the manual dosent say anything about chopping up samples. For example I have read the manual probably 5 times cover to cover since I have had it and I still have not found out what the does the midi control menu (under midi menu its a mystery menu) is for. WHY? Cause it aint in there HOMMIE!

I agree and we have had this same problem since about day 2 of the forum opening.

Maybe someone can ask the forum owner to just split the MPC2000/XL into two separate forums.

What? Um excuse me dude I got a MPC2000 IT ZONES my brotha But it you have to do it manualy. I dont have to "think" about it cos I KNOW THIS HOMIE! People stop answering question when you dont know the facts of the matter i.e. You aint got no MPCXXX so dont be answeing questions about MPCXXX, unless you really know what ever it is youre talking about, simply because this causes confusion. Damn, why people got to be all rude too. Who cares if its months old? I just thought it should be addressed so everyone will stop butchering the ROOKIES. Truth is, the more people we turn on the MPC2000 60 and 3000 more support we get from Akai in the future. I am thinking about that, I think most of us should.
