make me think about a party concept where everyone can be a DJ via phone. One after another. To not end up in mixing chaos I think about a lil test to qualify for the list of the DJs. Like a DJ mixing game that you need to complete. go outside for a minute and use this mixing game to show that you know hoe to beatmatch. If you reach a certain skillevel you're next on the list. Go back and you can play/mix the tracks you like for 10 min or so. Then the next DJ

If it does it should say so in the documentation or somewhere in the software config. If it's just a USB thing then they may just expect you to use software to remap it.

this thing gets cooler and cooler
i built a reaper patch that uses 4 of the fader strips as EQ VU meters, so that they represent the amplitude of 4 different eq bands. this way i can do quick eq band cuts for emphasis.

it interfaces with MIXXX very well, too - the "scratching" is rough, but nothing to sneeze at...enough for a couple quick stylistic scratches.

controlling the LEDs from non-configured software is a breeze.

edit, just configured it to interface with my REAPER beatbox => drum machine patch, so that when i beatbox it triggers the kick and snare from POISE and lights up the corresponding quneo pads.

all of the pads light up in beat to my song, too, which i find useful as an additional time queue for live drumming.

I have one as do my 3 studio partners. Its a great controller for a great price. the new update fixed my only complaints.

the sensor style is brilliant.
the actuation mechanism is standard: conductive material meets copper coil. however, the copper is coiled in such a way that each "pad" is actually 4 individually velocity/pressure sensitive quadrants.

there are a TON of LEDS on this thing, too.

the conductive material in this case is a strange felt-like material that i haven't seen before. this was probably a cheaper move than the carbon impregnated rubber or FSR style sensor. i wonder if the (already good) responsiveness of the quneo could be improved by switching out this conductive felt for carbon impregnated rubber.

Where can one buy sensors like those? The copper ones. I'm interested in building my own midi controller and definitely want to incorporate these versatile pads/faders (pressure, velocity, etc). Specifically the touch fader parts. Or possibly something even more sensitive like the led touch faders on the akai max 49, because I've used a Quneo and it takes a bit of pressure to move their faders.

The quneo sensors are etched onto the PCB itself. You can't buy those. You just design them into the circuit board.

That qunexus looks sweet.
All of their products look even more awesome to me now that I know they can do hardware MIDI. (with the expander box).

Hardware MIDI is dead simple to do with the Arduino. Which means infinitely customizable MIDI handling, even beyond what it can currently do.

The CV feature of the qunexus looks awesome. Perhaps it could then be a midi-cv converter, as if it didn't have enough functionality already?

I might consider getting one. Got a birthday coming up anyway, and nothing really in mind now that (so I heard) the volcas' release date was pushed back...

Just watched some videos on the quNexus, and they've got this spot on.

All the controller mappings are configurable on the device.

Meaning this can function entirely without a computer, as far as I can make out.


A big plus in my book.

thanks for getting back to me (; I still have a lot to learn but I'm totally inspired by all of this!

I have number 700 of the first 1000. Get one now there so amazing. It also comes with a Ableton Live remote script that makes it into a sweet little live controller. I wish the pads themselves we a little softer but the sensitivity is superb.

quneo may be replacing the MPC that i've used and loved for 10 years sadface

the pads aren't as pillowy but i'm going to create silicone prosthetics...
