Gotcha, I've worked with midi before, I just was baffled by this stupid keyboard.

a USB-to-Midi adapter should do the trick.

(My Interface is the Berringher USB one which only has Line level audio inputs)

thanks for the help.

no problem... but you will use the Radium's "Keyboard" MIDI Output instead of the side that says USB

Yo man! I am having troubles getting my reasons sounds into the MPC. I've watched your video 3 times now and read all the comments both here and youtube.

I have theese stuffs:

Novation Nio 2 / 4 interface, 1 midi in, 1 midi out. 1 audio in, 2 audio out + usb connection
M Audio Keystation 49e, Midi out + usb connection
MPC 1000, 2 midi in, 2 midi out. 1 record in, 1 digital out.

I have theese cables:
2x left/right audio cables.
2x midi cables

Is it possible getting it to work with theese connections?
What cables do I need and how many do I need? Do I need a monitor (going to buy Yamaha HS80 in a week)? If so how should I connect to my monitor?

The only connections I have left on my interface is 1 left/right audio output and 1 midi output. Is that enought or do I have to buy an extra interface? If so, how many in/outs should I think off (only going to buy a mixer + monitors)

I hope I've told enough so you can help me with my info, it would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Connect the midi out of your interface to midi in 1 of the MPC. Then connect the midi out A of you MPC to the midi in on the interface. Then follow the rest of the set up in Reason as shown in the vid. You don't need monitors, but when you get them, connect the left/right audio outs to them.

So I should not connect the midi out of my controller to the midi in of mpc?

Its just a lil' confusing cuz i have JJ OS 1 and the main screen on the mpc is different than mine. But i'll give it some hours and test.

EDIT: One more question. Should the sync option in Reason be internal or midi clock?

EDIT2: I can hear my midi sounds in Record Mode on the mpc, but not if im on the main screen. Can I fix this or it the way it should be? And when I play my beat made on the MPC and play on my controller, the MPC beat is so much louder. I have the output turned on to max on my interface. But when i decrease the volume on the MPC, both the midi sounds and the mpc beat decreases.

(Im all new to this, maybe my questions are newbie, but I do the best I can.)

(I use reason 4)

Thanks for your answer.

1. Oh yeah, you need a 3rd midi cable to connect from the midi out of your controller to the second midi in of the MPC.

2. Internal

3. The MPC pads always play the sound louder than the keys. I don't know why, but mine has always done this too. You need to explain your record mode problem more.

Thanks dude for taking your time, very appreciated.

I'll first test to buy a midi cable more and if it still dont work I'll come back with a more detailed explanation.

The thing is that I can hear all the sounds and record them in Record Mode (Mode+Pad 5 @ MPC 1000).

The only reason I want to hear and record em in main mode is that is so much easier to build a beat when you can see the beat clock and choose the tempo. Well, this is a large step I've come to today.

TY!

Oh, I get it. You have to actually record the sound and assign it to a pad, trim it, then play it. I don't know if the 1000 has a input thru or not, but if it does, you could use that.

Humm so strange..

I've just bought an extra midi cable.

I've conencted:
Midi Out interface>Midi In MPC
Midi In interface>Midi Out MPC
Midi Out controller(keystation49e)>Midi In MPC.

Audio Out interface>Record In MPC

But I cant still here a f***** sh**... I've done all the settings that are explained in the video. So, why is this happening to me???
This makes me pissed off.

I can hear and play the reasons sounds in record mode (mode+pad5). But that is kind off useless, I'll have to sample 'em, assign 'em to pads, trim 'em, and then try to get 'em to fit in my beat.

Any ideas? Can there be any setting I've have changed without noticing it that should absolutely not been changed? Any settings that is like "oh, every people know that... not usefull to explain, too basic"?

Thanks in advance

Did you turn Input Thru on? Like I said, if the 1000 doesn't have input through, you will have to connect the interface output to the same monitoring source as the MPC. Also, what are you using to monitor the music? Just list all your gear!

Sounds like the novation isn't outputting midi to the MPC, but is outputting midi through USB to Reason. I would think there is a setting you need to adjust on the keyboard!

problem solved , great thread it helped me out big time
what really is important to check when your mpc is'nt picking up the sound from your channel in reason is to make sure you got the right usb interface selected in de pref bus screen of reason.. e.x. i had my controller selected instead my interface device

now i need to figure out how to get rid of the first note skip on my 2k :) any help is welcome
