I've seen a VS1880 for a good price and think i'll pick it up then.

I was going to get something to track into Cubase like a Yamaha 01x but i didn't realise you could mix in these boxes. I'd like to do as much away from the PC as possible if i can help it.

Could i midi up reason and record a track straight into one of these? Or would i still need to sample the outs of my soundcard into the MPC first?

Either of you have experience with the 1880? The 2480 is over 3 times the price of this one so out of my budget at the moment and i can't find any 2000s for sale.

Thanks

No problem ne time. I have owned the Roland VS-1680, 1824, and now the 2000. THe 1880 and 1680 are pratically the same jus the 1880 has two extra tracks i believe. But you will be happy with it bu t make sure it has an effect card installed in it. The VS does have MIDI. If you make a beat in Reason but want to have all the sounds in your VS you can record from your PC to the board. Let me know if u still need help o something explained.

i think those blue towels should be situated higher, that way you don't have to stop playing to wipe the sweat from your forehead.

on that X stand where the keyboard rest on the two horizontal poles there is the end of a screw which sticks out providing an uneven plane for the kx88 keyboard to rest on. I put the rags there so that ther is more of a slope instead of having a flat plane and then this bump which occurs because of the screw(s) that holds the horizontal pole to the X frame. bought that stand and bench of ebay thats what u get when u don't buy something in person and the pics online aren't that great.

and here is a pic for your oh so serious post

mackie hr824s are special because of the anti flutter technology for the bass and the titanium tweeter, these two things give the mackies a nice clean sound. When people have problems with them its because you gotta be aware that the low end can be kinda misrepresented if its your first time mixing on em (so if ure bass sounds lllloud in ure mix it will sound louder and not as clean in a car) . For example the anti flutter technology for the bass makes the mackie bass cone go out and then return to its precise previous position. Basically on other monitors if you have a bass signal which has in its different frequencies many oscillations you will get some type of flutter because the bass is being driven constantly while the rate of change is occuring quickly all across the grimey bass sample's freq spectrum. KRK's and other monitors to my knowledge don't have the same or any anti flutter technology. I have heard this difference in bass in a side by side comparison with krk's and mackies. krk's where my second choice when i was looking to purchase monitors.

u should take note that i don't appreciate ure played out wise cracks because they aren't clever enough to even make a single person of sound mind smirk . so keep ure oh so witty comments to ureself mr modnar aka mr chuckles mic-thread-huckster. u r not kewl and ure comments aren't as witty as u may believe them to be. comedy takes talent this is unquestionable so here is some advice 4 u "hustle now, then ball later" and if u follow that philosophy with monthly payments maybe with a little work u 2 can be hillarious.

i rock a vs 1680 and i think its great esp. for the loot.... the 1880 is damn near the same... just with a lil quicker cd burning and 2 more tracks. i also have the truth b2031a monitors and love em... nice rich punchy bass and clear highs.. no complaints. in fact after i got em i was a lil blow away by the sheer output.

here is another pic of the crib, look back to like page 10 or so to see more lol.
