Analog Sequencer from Synthrotek

I just ordered one of these 16 step sequencers from Synthrotek. It's called Synthrotek 16. I'm planning on using it to trigger my mono synths. Anyone have one of these or built the kit? It's not my dream step sequencer but at $370 I couldn't pass it up.

This would be perfect with the Korg Monotron and Monotribe.

Neither the Monotron or Monotribe have MIDI unless you retro-fit them with a kit (which isn't a bad idea, although I don't think I've seen one for the Monotribe yet ). Also, quite a lot of older monosynths didn't have MIDI either so the only option is something like this that uses CV.

I've had a look at the website and you can actually just buy them as a kit which is cool.

I so laughed. Yes as mentioned above, these are analogue sequencers with no midi. Before midi it was control voltages. THere are in fact two different types as well, as not all companies agreed about how voltage pitch should work. I have a monotron and I have also played round with an original Korg MS20 which are both real analogue synths that use CVs (control voltages) for control over pitch env lfo ect. some like MS20 are semi modular and CVs are patchable, monotron has it prewired so no patching with out modding....
So these anaolgue controllers allow midi to CV so only then can you use midi gear like mpcs to drive pitch, envelopes, triggers lfos ect of analogue gear running on control voltages.
yeah the kit is kool, and a great solution for old gear. There is softeare now as well that uses DACs out

you can use the mpc to control cv synths without midi.
i use the mpc1000 to control my korg ms10.
i draw up some wave forms, assign to pad, send to the separate outs and run those into cut off, pulse width, trigger etc. then pitch them up/down to change speed of the waveforms.

it works pretty well, but a dedicated cv sequencer would be more convenient and more fully featured.

Where did you get this kit from? I would be interested to see if the supplier has other kits.

What does this kit do though? Does it output CV to control synths as opposed to midi?

I've still been meaning to finish my midi controller. Got everything, even the LCD works, but I've been waiting over 2 months for my street fighter pad buttons. I think I got robbed. Oh, and still gotta write the code for sampling. I call it the "JJSP.ASR.EPS.MPC" ... no seriously I have lol. It's all on a breadboard at the moment.

Other fun looking kits available. I like that you can buy pre-made or just the bits! Korg should do that with the Monotron.

Yes it outputs CV for those beautiful monosynths that are pre-MIDI.

yeah nice work around. but yeah get one of these, you will be buggin when you do. there is Frostwave as well that do simillar

I know about fecking CV, just meant get a Midi to CV converter you muppet
