MPC 1K vs. MPD-16 with Battery & Cubase

I would choose hardware over software any day. Some people just feel that way. But id rather be lookin at a burned-out 2000 screen, then burnin my eyes out on a computer screen. yaknow?

personally, check out native instruments intakt. along with mpd-16 and cubase you will be set for awhile. in my opinion intakt is a combination of acid, battery and live3/4 (but not acid, battery or live 3/4). there is a learning curve but once you have it down to a science, well ... i own mpc and intakt with it features (effects, tempo sync, imports rex2 files, number of outputs, chopping the beat, mixing the different slices, plays up to 88 different samples, add effects to individual slice, go to the native instrument web site they have a demo avaible) will out preform a mpc any day. for as sequencing goes, cubase is a better sequencer than mpc. the mpc sequencer with the samplers and the pads are a great combination in one box but ... you could do more with cubase. except one thing which may be important to some is the note repeat (which is a great feature).

Intakt is a great piece of software. That an Mach5 should both be checked out in addition to the MPC.

i think that the mpc1000 triggering NI Battery is a nice set up. It may just be me but for some reason drum samples coming out of battery and my Delta44 soundcard have more punch than the same samples coming out the mpc1000. I think it has to do with Battery's sound shaping algorithms -attack times, decay etc. The reason i started using Battery for the samples as opposed to the 1000 was because i could not tolerate that trim edit bug prior to os. 1.05. Both are good however so go with whatever you could afford.

What was the trimming bug? Many samples I have loaded to the mpc have clicks which trim will not remove.. Is this the bug? I updated to 1.05 and the old samples still sound the same. Do i have re-load them to lose the pops?

the trimming bug was a bug prior to 1.05. When you would trim a mono sample in the trim edit mode and discard the unused portion the following sample would have a clickin noise at the end of it. So i got frustrated and started using Battery for samples and the mpc to sequence.
