I have a hunch that akai will discontinue the 2000xl pretty soon.

So now when they killed us and hurt our feelings with the 2500 release and destroyed our hopes for our beloved 1k I think the least thing they can do for us is to apply the 2000xl os in the mpc1k. Yes, Akai seems to be very business minded these days but where’s the respect for us, the ones that feed them and keep them alive? I don’t think that adding these features on the 1k will effect the sales of the 2500 because its not the same set of kids that buys them... For a price of 700$(?)
I want just a litle more...

Don’t get me wrong, I love akai and the mpc! but man... they have to give us the 2000xl OS now or I think many people will be disappointed and in the and it will give Akai a bad rumour...

It wouldn't just be a matter of 'cut and paste' cause the 2 machines have different processors.

Probably what they could do is give some of the functions from 2500...

but that is exactly what they don't want to do, cause they want us to spend more $$$ on the 2500.

No point in being pissed off tho, this always happens no matter what you buy.

My regret though, is that it should have been a "1000 xl" , with a kit you could buy to upgrade it. Even if the kit was really expensive it wouldn't seem like such a waste. Then everyone would have been happy. That's what Elektron did with my MachineDrum and its way nicer. Instead, we get "NOW IN BLACK" ;).

haha, yeah i know! the black one is so much sweeter 8)

but man i still dont think adding just a litle will kill them... i mean auto cromatic assignment, have they skipped that one on the 2500 to?

No doubt.

Yeah in my opinion, what they should do is add all the features that obviously don't take much extra processing power.

They could add:
-track volume
-auto chromatic

Also, i'd like to be able to monitor the inputs from the main screen but that's just me maybe.

And they could add non-real-time timestretch too... the 2500 has realtime I think, so it would still be an excuse to upsell people that way.

here's something that hasn't been brought up...

since the 2500 is really just an advanced 1000 (same processor, etc) isn't the os gonna be damn near compatible with the 1000? minus a couple bells and whistles?
