Yes, I was aware of that too, but didn't want to complicate things.

In the end it really doesn't matter if it's european/british or US "hiphoppers" we're talking about, most of them are doing a mighty fine job of caricaturing themselves. :)

I've been to many parts of Japan numerous times. I have to say unless you are with someone in Japan you are alone. Lots of pretension. I like Osaka better. Although I may be biased because the last time I went to Osaka we got a place to stay right downtown for nothing.

You also have to remember if you are going to get something you are going to have to carry it with you or mail it for a good price. IMo just travel, less shop.

I live in Japan now, near Shibuya.

There's a place that sells some old school shit in Shibuya, called Echigoya. It's in the building on the opposite corner from Tower Records, on the 9th floor, and that's えちごや (I think).

Aside from that, supposedly there's a whole street in Akihabara filled up with music shops, but when I went looking for it, I couldn't find it.

There don't seem to be any real bargains here on equipment or vinyl or anything else for that matter. Everything is either exactly what you should expect to pay for it or ridiculously higher than what you'd expect.

Have fun

Thanks for all the info guys, (and the jokes Soyo!?!) doubt I'll be actually buying anything coz I'm on a tight budget but it would still be cool to check out some gear. My mate thats goin with me is a wheel head so i suppose i'll need to check out some Jap supercar stuff too. Gonna see if we can get to a drift event or something.

Cheers
Boab
