This mixer will only act as an audio interface. So buy an M-Audio Uno to go along with your mixer. It's only $20. But It's very neccesary to have your MPC synced through MIDI while tracking out into sequencing software. His audio interface is different and it has MIDI built in. But many of us (including myself) have separate audio and MIDI interfaces. Hopfeully that will clear up any confusion you may have.

also check alot of the usb mixers wont record insert effects which might not be a big deal now but down the road you will want to use those aux and insert pots.

you guys' answers helped, but what do you mean by alot of usb mixers wont record effects, are you talking about certain types of input jacks on the mixer itself?

yeah like the mackie onyx does not record the inserts so if you have a processor on a insert it will not be recorded. not a big deal if you dont use outboard gear.

so when looking for a mixer what wording in the specs should i look for that tells me i can record inserts?
