how do i know if my new mpc 1000 has the new improved pads?

once opening the machine up, how will i be able to tell if i have the new pads or not?

is it that the new pads are all connected together in a single sheet, wehreas the old, faulty pads were just separate pads of rubber that were not connected to each other?
