That could also be an explanation for the units that are getting excessively hot.
Maybe there's a link between the hot (or "cold") MPC's and the not-triggering-problem

I never heard of differently behaving software. I strongly believe there's
a connection between used hardware parts and/or revision numbers and
this problem. If every unit contained 100% identical hardware AND everybody used OS 1.05, EVERYBODY would observe the problem.
My VirusB also comes in 2 hardware revisions. AccessMusic explained
in a textfile that came with the OS, that Motorola changed a chip from
R to S or something. Consequence; 2 OS editions from that moment on.
An official statement from AKAI like "OK guys, we recognise the problem
and we are working on it" would be nice...
