Yep, that's exactly it.
It seems incredibly inefficient to me to have to save 10 or more sequences that are just slight variations on the original sequence, then sit down with a pen and paper and count how many times I want each one to play in order to create a song. I normally would just do this live but I want to free myself up in order to play other stuff.
Using the MPC in the context of a live band would be 1000x more useful this way. People don't like it when I say "stop, wait, let me write this down"...
So, back to the original question, does anyone have Akai contacts? Can you ask them if this is planned for the 1000?
Honestly I think the 1000 is perfect for my use except for this feature. I'd go ahead and buy a 4000 but it's too big and I don't need all the other ****.
I use the 1k In my band too. I really dont use sequence mode Except for interludes or when my band is tuning or im duing something with my drummer. When I practice with my band like if we are writing new stuff thats when i use sequence mode, then i find out how many bars i need to use and I make that sequence into a sample, but say we want to loop something in a live set i would make sure that that sample is mono and i would do the loop my self by hitting the pad to create a loop effect. The key thing while playing loops and samples in a band is keeping the Time correct. Make sure the drummer can keep the BPM straight. Then youll be straight. Nothing worse then a sample or a loop going off with a wrong BPM. Peace.
