Unless you want a real choppy sound, then chop it with out timestretching.
I do that too. I usually come up with an ill 4 bar drum loop then I take a 4 bar loop out of the song and timestretch it to loop perfectly with my drum loop. Then I chop that b*tch up and rearrange it over the drums, then add a sick bassline.
