I think besides natural component ware and tear i think the pad sensors get the most damge from the heat generated , the most heat comes from the display and i think when using it when its so hot damages the pad sensors quicker ,, just a theory

i'd be willing to bet that the most heat comes from the cpu or the power supply. the screen generates little or no heat, being LCD and backlit with LEDs that give off almost no heat.

I left mine on for about a month once... it was actually recently. I went out of town for like 2 weeks and then was busy for a while when I got back. Flipped over my towel that covers my MPC and the damn thing was still on and the sequencer was running. The screen had a burn in it and was kind of dark. I was scared as hell. I turned it off, slapped myself in the face, and then waited about and hour and turned it back on... I adjusted the screen contrast and it was fine.

That will never happen again!!!

yo the pad sensor doesn't get damaged, they're all pretty solid and simple. it'd be the glue that gets weakened by the heat. i'd agree with that theory.

the sensors themselves are tough little bastards.

I fall asleep with it on from time to time. Screen gets dark like these guys say. But I would say turning it on and off would be more damaging. I was going to ask if anyone had horror stories from excessive starting/stopping

i leave mine on for days at a time and have had it for years...still as fresh as when i got it.

It would be nice to have a screen saver or a button to turn the screen off with just a lead to show that the mp is on.

I heard that the 1k hd buzzes allot even when its not used? Maybe thats a good reason not to keep it on for 3 days?

these shits rae pretty **** new, if there wer any problems with starting/stopping, this "pro" device would have one shitty PSU...same with keeping it on...

My screen never gets dark, and I often leave mine on for days at a time.

The thing does get very hot (and stays hot) when it's left on for extended periods of time.
