Two points...
1 - As I mentioned before... in most cases, all I received were a bunch of raw samples - I did everything else... the trimming, looping, mapping, programming, etc., not to mention the (often extensive) instrument description/history on the website. So (and with all respect to them), they'd spend - what - half an hour getting some raw samples to me and I could spend 4 or 5 days sorting them all out for release!! Not always, of course, and some donors did supply 'ready-to-go' material which they had created on their S5/6k or Z4/8 but mostly that wasn't the case.
2 - I have
never taken
any credit for
any donations. In fact, of you visit the Nostalgia pages I did to support the product (*), you will see that the 'donations' are clearly separated and the donors are all credited on each page (unless they wanted - for whatever reason - to remain anonymous). Neither have I ever mentioned who, in most cases, did the work on those donations - I have handed over all 'glory' to the donors including links to their websites where applicable. Furthermore, if you read the documentation that comes with Nostalgia, you will see that all contributors are listed "with grateful thanks". If I were being underhanded in any way about this, I think I would suppress all that and
really take all the credit myself.
(*) Those instrument descriptions/histories are, BTW, used in many music tech courses in colleges and universities around the world for which I take no payment or (even credit) incidentally.
But it's a funny old world tho - it's almost always the donors who let me know of any possible 'infringement' they might find on the net (such as the scumbags who downloaded all my stuff when it was free and then sold it as their own on eBay!)!! Furthermore, it has typically been the most generous donors who have been the first in the queue to buy my CDs.
And (you can believe this as you want) - when some of the 'friends of HS' knew I was making 'Nostalgia', some offered
more samples for inclusion!
As for
profit, I have yet to make any - not even covered costs and I doubt I ever will!!

Nothing! The matter's over as far as I am concerned and it certainly wasn't my intention to spark the whole debate off again in my closing sentence so
my apologies for that.
