I think nuKAI is going to try to sell as many black mpcs as possible and maybe let us have the next uppdate 2.3. That could take 3 months.

but gettin back to the point, akai aint releasin the new os till they make mad loot off sellin the mpc1kblak and mpc2500 to clowns like wildstyle that will gladly sell their original mpc1k for half price to save up for the newer shiit

without getting into this rediculous feud, let me address this point as if it were made by someone else and not thepillage.

i've heard this theory kicking around and i must say that it's full of holes. i sincerely doubt akai is holding out to make people with 1ks sell theirs and get the next higher product - it doesn't make any sense, and NOT MANY PEOPLE WILL DO IT. not enough, anyway, to hold out on us. there's not enough of a reward to justify this kind of thought process.

see what i'm saying? they won't profit that much from people like wildstyle who "upgrade" because the mpc1000 doesn't have software features he/she needs. that's just bonus to them.

think about percentages - do you think the percent of mpc1000 red/blue users who upgrade to blk and 2500 really would be enough to justify this mindset?

i doubt it. there must be something else at work, either much more simple or much more sinister

just think on it from a companys viewpoint:

there are some people waiting on the new os. if they release it now
a few of them are satisfied, but there will be not much press.

but if they announce it at namm show, which is only one week from now,
they will be getting better press response, because its an event.

out of all the features in this new mpc black i never heard anything in there about chromatic assignments, is this gonna be in it?

no, it's not in the 2500 either.

just make a CHROMATIC pgm and store it in your hard drive, then load it up when you need it. it's just as fast.

ya thats what ive been doin, is making my programs chromatically laid out giving them program channel numbers for my midi controller

um...when going to the "updated" akai japanese site, if you get to the page after you click on the black 1000, it does say something about a new OS.
