i've seen that you're been talking a lot about this HD thing..
right now im using a 1 GB Compact Flash, and i have to use my computer to store the old/finished beats on, because i always fill the card up with beats and samples, i would like to do this HD thing, but theres one thing i got to know.. is it possible to have the HD INSIDE the MPC, og does it have to be an external box you have to take WITH the MPC..? Someone here who can get pictures of how you should connect it? (IF ITS INSIDE THE MPC)...

It goes inside the MPC - which is a very decent thing. So you can load it up with gigs of samples and when you take it with you, you don't have to worry about going out of sounds... :)

dang thats tight that means ultimate protability, i can put a crap load of samples and drums on it, and just go on the road, man i got to get that

hmmmmm...but you guys said something about that the MPC is just able to read 2 GBs of the HD? is that true? if so, why don't just buy a 2 GB compact flash card? i already got a 1 GB compact flash card, but that's not enough for me, because i want to keep the beats im satisfied with on the MPC, i dont trust in computers, i've lost many beats cause of crushed computers..

SO, is it possible to use the whole HD?!?! or just 2 GBs ??

for 1, the cost of a 2gb CF card is way more expensive than buying the HD kit + 40gb hard drive. and then do the math 2gb........ 40gb.......

second. the hard drive will go inside of the mpc.

with the current OS the hard drive will only read up to 2gb. with the new OS the mpc will read the entire volume of the drive whether it is a 20gb, 40gb drive.
Everyone may not want to utilize this kit and hd feature (i don't know why they wouldn't) but for those who will use it, they will notice the increased value this will lend to having a 1k.

it will become the only remotely portable sampler that can carry so much stuff at one time. try to take your 2500 to chipotle....

Akai is still testing 60 and 80gb drives, so I'm sure it's all a matter of time before they list which models will be supported.
