PHONO-PREAMP BS

Everything is hooked up and i can record into my mpc1000(jj0s4.99) but everything is heavily distorted. i turned the rec gain down and it still the same, turned the threshold up and down. played around with all of it. any pointers?

What kind of phono pre is it ?

Behringer Micro-Phono PP400

get a beter pre. Art has one for like 40 bucks with a cutoff switch. It sounds hella good too, for a cheepo pre. Cutoff should help with distortion. Also, what kinda deck is it? what kinda Needle? all these could be factors.

yeah its a ion cheap usb turntable. 901 needle it sounds good coming through my moniters, just not into the mpc from the pre, i spent 25 on it, which isnt to cheap but i know theres better. any chance there is settings of any kind on the mpc?

if its an Ion usb, shouldn't need a preamp. Thats where the distortion is coming froim, those have built in pre's. Pre on pre equals overdrive. See if you get a better signal running the turntable directly to the MPC

oh i see makes sense for coverting.... so just the 1/4 stereo plug to the "y" rca females?

don't need a y wire. Just RCA to 1/4" jacks
