Hey,
I'm planning to sell my Machine and get a proper hardware sequencer/sampler. I have an opportunity to get MPC with JJOS2Xl for a very affordable price, but since I never ever touched an MPC I'm having a hard time to understand few things:
1) Is it possible to load a various, up to 8 min long wav samples and playback them simultaneously? Can it be done by maximising RAM?
2) Is it possible to do something like a global quantization to avoid rhythmical error when playing live? For example, if I have chopped my song in parts (intro,chorus,bridge,etc..) loaded into MPC and specified BPM, can I jump to those parts “in time”, without going out of sync?

Sorry if this is dumb dumb. I have never owned MPC, but if there is solution to do these two things, I don't have a reason to spend so much for Octatrack!

it's about 21-24mins mono max (half is stereo), unless you would degrade sampling rate so you can have more (48mins @ 22050 for example) , but it's not a box for that kind of tasks... roland sp-404 for instance has streaming of CF card, so it has a lot more memory to use

yes, it has a lot of timing and quantizating options, but what you ask is I think different - kind of "scene" - called sequence in mpc terms, making each part as separate sequence you can jump to 64 "scenes" by pads in time (there is master tempo, as well as separate for each sequence) - this can be recorded by program changes - not very straight forward

or making it in one sequence, and use tracks to mute/unmute your parts - this is easy to record and edit

if you mean automatic and non-destructive "force to tempo" there is no such thing, you can most easily fit samples with TUNE but it also changing pitch together with lenght of samples (just like on turntables when beat-matching, no realtime timestretch here )
