How to Clear Memory On 1000?

Does anybody know how to clear the banks out of the 1000? I can erase everything else but the drums will still be loaded. Is there anyway to truley start over.

You can use [Purge] to delete any samples not loaded in a program, but that will only delete unassigned samples (which is probably what you are seeing). If you want to get rid of everything, delete all the loaded programs first, this will "orphan" all the samples used by the programs. Then use [Purge] to delete these orphaned samples. Also, if you still have the Autoload folder on your CF card, everything in there will load up everytime you turn on the MPC, so if you don't want that to happen change the name of that folder to something else (it contains all the factory sounds and programs so I renamed it Factory).

1. Delete All Sequences, Programs and Samples By using the Delete All Option.

2. Make a empty project file, so when u load it , it clears everything

3. turn off then turn back on.

Can u not do it from the trim screen? XL i would go into trim screen, highlight the sample name, press open window, then Delete >> All

Maybe u can do that too?

Exactly, that's the fastest/easiest way to do it. Works like that on the 1000 too.

Thanks for the help. I was trying to find a way to do it without having to turn it off then back on again which is what I do now. Seems like its easier just to do it the way I have been. Thanks though.

Hey. Here's is the answer your'e looking for:

Go to load and pick a folder (or anything) to load. when it asks you "if your'e sure you wanna do this" simply press "clear" (one of the F-buttons) This will clear the memory.

[purge] - its like the enema of the mpc

just curious but...i don't think it actually "deletes" the samples and seq's...I've tried all the methods and when I go into the "Load" mode...and i look in the "Load from:Internal Memory" screen......all the seq's and samples are still physically there....

for the billionth time...second verse same as the first!!!



1.make one change to a program file.
2.Save to internal memory
3.MPC deletes all pgm, seq, wav files before saving so wait till it reaches 100% then turn off the Mpc( its important you do this after it reaches 100% no sooner no later)
now turn your mpc back on and find it free of those pesky pre sets. and ready to roll!!!

Create an empty project.
Save it.
If you need to clear the ram memory: load the empty project.

Hi there,
New to MPCs and MPC 1000, I adore it.
However I seem to have issues with the internal ram.
It was loaded with samples from the previous user, I guess. So I did what was said in this topic, except I only saved "all sequences" to internal memory after previously having purges all samples, programs and sequences except for a single Hihat.

However I still have only 10 secs available of sampling, and only 6.4 Mb Wave free and 1656 Kb sequence free on the internal memory.

The thing is: when I want to save "Entire memory" to Internal (entire memory being 1 program with 1 hihat sample), it doesn't offer me to "Do it". On the right part of the screen I do have the "Internal folder, with only 1 "Program 01" program and 1 "Hat_01" sample.
I tried to format, so when I press format it offers me to format "X" which I assume is the internal memory, but it gives me a "SYSTEM ERROR!"
One interesting fact is that when I press format and use the jog to go from "X" to "Memory card", I can't go back to "X".

So I really don't know what to do. Another piece of info is that before I saved "All sequences" and it supposedly erased everything, when I checked what was on the memory card it was lines of weird symbols. Could the RAM be fried? I bought it from a first owner and it sat in a box for years. Everything works fine except for some tact switches that I'm about to replace.

Are you aware of the fact that there's a difference between internal memory and RAM?
Internal memory is basically useless, and would advise you not to save files to the internal memory.
Best thing to do is to format the memory card and start saving your files on there. If you want to save your projects as an Entire Memory file I'd suggest you to make a new folder for each project, and save your Entire Memory file in there.

Hi, first of all thanks for your reply.
Ok I was not aware of the difference between internal memory and ram.
So my understanding is that there is:
- RAM (16 mb, used for loading samples from the CF card into the project in order to use it)
- Memory card
- Internal Memory.

I did format the Memory card, and it works fine. My only issue is that I only have 10 seconds of Stereo sampling time, and I don't understand why or how can I get my 16mb of ram back!
Is that because I have JJOS free and JJOS2XL installed? I doubt it'd take any ram, and would be stocked into internal memory instead?
