hi everybody-

first time poster. thanks for all your help. i'm a pro drummer who just uses the 1000 to write loops for gigs. simple and effective.

i cannot get os v1.07 to open ( decompress) when i download it from the akai site. it says decompression failed and the folder is empty. v 1.06 downloaded fine with the BIN but not the latest. i'm on a mac, panther with stuffitt. anyone know what's up?

thanks again, don;t lose that groove !!

hey man, welcome to the forum.

The file you´ve downloaded was compressed in a zip file,
the decompressed file called "mpc1000.bin" is the OS for the MPC 1k.
On the Akai Site you will also find a PDF how to install the os on your little baby.

".bin" used to be on systems before OS-X compressed files to avoid data loss when transfering datas from mac to pc.
In the pc world it´s a disc image.
but actually for akai it is used as simple binary coded as "software" that your sampler interprets.

hope that helps u so far .

greets

roundbadger, it's a Mac thing. However if you got Stuffit Expander 10 it works with that.
Anyway, you can download the os in 'Mac friendly' format here:

She's got the entire beat laid out on the table in front of her. She has 808 of those cowbells, whenever she needs THAT sounds she just slaps it. That's flexibility!
Boem...clang..........boem..clang...
As you can see there are more people using the technique but she pioneered this sh1t.
