Mpc 1000 internal battery!

Anybody manage to accomplish this? Im sure you could find a laptop battery or other battery with the correct voltage requirments that could fit in the same space as the laptop hd.

someone mentioned they wanted to try this before, i doubt they actually acheived it cos it was a while back and nothing more got posted about it.

i believe the power requirements are too high for a battery. well, one that exists today, anyway. 19W i think it is. this would equate to about 12.6Amps at 240V which is fairly high for a consumer device. have a look out there, though, there may be a laptop battery that could cope.

i think the inverter inside steps down to 12 V DC, if you wanted to fiddle around with the insides, but this'd definately void any warranty.

yeah i think you'd take the transformer out before attaching the battery, i was just quoting the voltages to work out the current used by the mpc.

most laptops today require more power than the mpc1k so i think a good laptop batter would be enough to power up the mpc. however, akai's R&D dept. is looking at a batter powered mpc to rival rolands sp404. it is said to be smaller than the 1k but don't expect it any time soon.

But hope it will be compatible with the 1k. But i doubt they will make it as advanced as the 1k.

i could be wrong but this doesn't sound right. i sell 1000w grow lights and they only run 4.8amps @ 240v. i don't see why 19w would run at 12.6amps, maybe 1.26amps sounds more like it to me. i don't care either way though, i wouldn't use an external battery unless it was approved by akai. good luck.

that what they claim it would be. (compatible). well just think of what the 404 can do. now think of an akai model similar to the 404, so if akai wants to get 1 up on roland, they would make it compatible at least with seqs.

But if its exactly the same, or even better im gonna look like this

akai would be HARD PRESSED to one up the sp404. you can do things on that little box that made me drool at gc yesterday when i was playing with one, and that was the first time i'd laid hands on one. just tweaking the effects was causing the whole room to fill with the craziest sounds imaginable. plus, with midi in, i am really starting to consider using it with my mpc. it's sick.

and cheap.

no akai 500 could be as good. hell, the sp404 in my opinion rivals the 1000, but in a give/take kind of way -- what the mpc1000 doesn't have in effects, the sp404 more than makes up for. what the sp 404 doesn't have in sequencing/options, the mpc does have.

i'm thinking about picking one up and running the mpc's individual outs into the sp404's ins, or the alt outs on my mackie into the sp404 and using to be midi controlled from my mpc just for effects and live purposes.

i'd do that waaaaay before picking up an mpc500. mpc1000 is portable enough for me.
