not even a hit, just an established song.I've been observing in this forum for quite a while and i've heard some hot beats produced on the 1k so i know what it can do....i'm just wondering why more producers don't mention it

I'm sure there has been... if you look at scratch magazine it is listed in alot of people's kits... manny fresh has one.

I'm sure there is, but some producers don't like listing their equipment. For some reason, the MPC is thought of as the machine for hip hop, despite the fact that it's useful for any kind of music that needs samples and sequences (I seem to be one of the few people in here that doesn't do hip hop with it), and the hip hop producing world is notoriously conservative when it comes to gear used, so you'll find lots of producers who'll insist on either a 3000, 2000XL or a 60 as being the only gear to use, and sadly people will listen, so the 1000 may not have been used on as many hits as it should have done.

I'm not sure, but I think I read that somewhere. I know that Liam Howlett from The Prodigy used Reason on their last album. There was an article on Propellerheads' website about it last year. That article might be in the archives over there.

From what I've read, Reason's often used as a composing tool, rather than doing actual released things on it. It's nice and easy to use and slef contained, so lends itself to quick composing. A lot of the last Prodigy album was apparently written in Reason, then the basic beats and parts reproduced on higher quality pro-audio gear when Liam got back in the studio. Reason's very attractive in that you can just have it on a laptop with a midi keyboard, and you have a basic functioning studio to write with, rather than sitting in front of a big studio desk with a rack full of stuff getting writers block, which is apparently what happened to Liam Howlett.

Not in secret... you can hear the canned samples in their songs at time.
