Loading samples from PC to MPC 1000?

Hey all,

I am new to this board. I just got a MPC 1K. Currently I have just been recording samples into from my turntables. I have a ton of samples on my computer in wav. format. I am using a PC with Windows XP. I was just wondering the quickest, most effecient way to load those onto the 1k. I came across the pad 187 program that Stephen wrote but it is for Mac. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

yeah that or blue box will work, but get you a CF card reader that works quicker

Welcome to the boards! Yeah, you can use blue box. But thats only if you dont want to assign the samples while in the mpc. If you just want to transfer files, get a usb cable or a card reader and just plug it in, and the mpc will pop up in the "my computer" area.

Welcome to the boards, Melissa. As suggested before, BlueBox is definitely the way to go. Also, if your PC has USB 2.0 ports, I'd highly suggest buying a USB 2.0 multicard reader/writer, since it's a hell of alot faster than the USB 1.1 port on the MPC (plus you don't have to deal with the hassle of connecting and disconnecting the USB cable from your MPC and your PC).

Man, you mean you don't want to wait an hour and a half via USB like I did?

another word of advice re:sampling from your turntables:

if you have a decent audio interface on your pc, ie it can record at 24Bit 96kHz or more, i'd do it that way if you're after quality rather than grit in your sound. you'll have to convert the samples to the mpc's 16Bit 44.1kHz in order to use them on it, but it does make a difference. of course a lot of people use the mpcs because of their 'gritty' sound, so if that's what you are after, then ignore all of the above!
