Question bout the MPC1000

I just ordered a MPC 1000 and I had a few questions. Do u need a keyboard also for the MPC. Can u make a song and have two different beats in one song.Like what Timberland did on Jay Z Come and get me song on Vol 3. Like the beat was playin then he changed the beat totally all in one song.
Also can is possible when sampling to only to take the vocal and not the beat and vice versa can u only get the beat and no the vocal. How is that done. Does buying bigger Flash card subusitute buy the 128 ram drive.

Yes you can switch up beats by changing the songs in the MPC. and as far as vocal removal, their is none availible, the reason i say is because it cannot be done only if you had the money and technology. their are tools but they cannot work compltey its not a new idea. as far as the proccess you do the research and find out, you ever heard of google? use that. flash card? 128 ram drive? im confused, i think you have your lingo all funked up in that last question. but if you think buying a Bigger CF card make sampling time bigger, NOPE! it doesnt.

if you dont understand some things i said just google it, because its going to save you and save us time. we arent tech help 101 in the music world ya know. do your research because its out their.

yes you can switch up in one song. you can make different sequences, then in song mode they can be linked together. the ram in the mpc is where you make the song and if not upgraded you can only load up to 16mb and nothing is saved to it so it resets when its turned off. the cf card is where you save your songs. so if you have 4 songs that are 14mb each, than you can fit all of them on a 64mb card. you cant however load your 4 songs into the mpc at the same time because there is only 16mb of space. if you get the ram upgrade tho, you now have 128mb. so you now can load multiple songs and have more space to be creative. also you shouldn't run out of space with that much ram, you will need a bigger cf card or harddrive tho....... this is hard to explain, but I hope you get the gist of it.

not literally a song change a sequence is called a song to, thats what i meant. not just load a different beat, its MPc terms

That's totally up to you. if you have samples layed out chromatically, or if you are using a sound module, you can use a keyboard to play out your tune. but a keyboard is not necessary.

Any tool whether hardware or software can do this. that is something that is producer/beat maker specific, not the thing your using to make the song.

there are ways of doing this, they are not 100% each time but the quickest and easiest way to do this is to buy a record that has the instrumental and acapella on it.

there are plenty of threads talking about this. try looking in the sticky at the top of this section talking about CF cards and RAM. but to give you a quick answer, no... CF cards and now hard drives does not substitute/replace the 16 or 128mb of RAM. do me a favor and read up on the stickies at the top of this section.
