iTunes and OS2.01

Don't know about the rest of you but I would love to drop some cd's on that shinny new 40GB hard drive and be able to select their play back order and assign the out puts. What do you say.... iTunes for version 2.01!

That should definitely be there. So the short wish list is:
1) Playback engine for the hard drive (something like iTunes)
2) Multi format compatibility (mp3,...)

I think there are a lot of people out there that would like to load that hard drive and use that machine for play back also.... like anyone who composes their own and then DJ's.

I do sound design for small theaters and play music or effects before the show and then continue during the show with effects done on cue like (Thunder, ambiance, etc). I currently use a Boss SP202 and a couple of Numark cd players and was looking for something to replace the above equipment. The MPC offered the hope of being able to adjust and create sound effect on site during tech week.

I definitely think AKAI would benefit by putting in MP3 support. Opens up a whole new market for DJs and stuff.
Send them a mail and propose it. Although I dint think much will happen... =)

All I have to say is that's why we come up with the saying hmans are never satisfied. Be happy that we even got an OS2.1 Dude! Work wit it

You can load 24 min of sound into a 1k, that's a lot of "Thunder, ambiance" sound FX.
Of course direct playback from HD would be a bonus, but you made it sound like you wanted to play your favourite CD's from your MPC.
I don't expect Akai to add more extra features after this. But if they would i'd rather have dedicated sampler/sequencer features like: free running/non-synced LFO's, grid edit, stuff like that.
Like i said, if you need to play long fragments/songs in a theater why not take 1 (or two) iPods. They are smaller, lighter, cheaper and you can make a cue-list with hours of music.

I am sorry. I just could not let this go. You left out the 15 minutes of pre show, 15 minutes for intermission and then exit music, not to mention music for scene changes and underscoring of scenes.
