mpc 1000 and roland spd-20

hey all, i got 2 questions
1. im going to buy a mpc1000 soon, around June or July, but next month, im going to get a roland spd-20 drum pad and i was wondering, would the two possibly be able to work in conjunction with each other in some way?

2. is the mpc1000 really hard to use. im a total NOOB when it comes to things like this, and i want to be able to make some decent beats using the 2 or even just the MPC1000.

the 1000 is one of the easiest piece of gear to learn.

I have to agree on that

the spd20 will be harder to set up than the mpc. I have the spd6 and it is a **** to assign the pads on that thing

although a quick browse of some of the more lame questions posted in this 1k forum would make you think otherwise.

yeah the 1k is easy to learn. unfortunately, it seems that akai has successfully marketed the mpc1000 to the mentally handicapped...

I triggered my KorgES1 from my roland SPD6 and made some "bust a nut" drum patterns. I'm selling my Korg and now plan to do the same with my MPC 1000.

I found it was easier to coordinate the module to the midi pad, since everytime I restart my SPD it reverts back to the default. With the MPC you can save your drum layout permanently. After mapping that out on a piece of paper, I built all my kits in the ES1 after that map.

For example, my closed high hat is always the bottom right corner pad. Open high hat is always is always the bottom right corner pad with the pedal stepped on. Consistency is key and will allow u to move from kit to kit easier.

I'll let you know how things work out for me once I get my unit tuned in. Someone, somewhere has a general midi drum layout for the mpc's 16 pad layout that should help also.

I've got a 1000 with a Roland SPD6. I just realized that if you set your Roland SPD6 to Drums-2 as opposed to Drums-1 the MIDI correlation is better. This matches up bank A, didn't check as to other banks.
