My MPC says I have 48mb's available but is only allowing me 1 second of sample time, WTF? No I dont have the 128 mb upgrade.

How can you have 48 MB free RAM witout having upgraded the RAM? Could it be the case that it is your CF card that has 48 MB free? Check that.

im kinda having a memory issue my self... i havent loaded but maybe 25 seconds of a sample into my mpc.. when i try to chop it into regions or do anyting to it.. it says insufficent memory... i have a autoload folder and a internal folder when i plug it into my pc... is there somethin i need to change or delete?... please help

There´s a big difference between the CF card and RAM. One is for storing samples (CF card) and the other for sampling and as a flexible working memory for samples (RAM).
The size of your CF card does not have an impact on sampling / recording time, only on how large / many samples you can save.
The RAM determines the amount of actual sampling you can do and the amount of samples you can work with. If your MPC 1000 is not expanded with 128 MB RAM youll have a grand total of "16" MB RAM. Actually 5 MB of those is the Flash RAM memory (or internal memory in save screen) where you can save within the box. I gather some 100 KB´s are stolen by the OS too (correct me on this one someone of greater wisdom). If you autoload samples in the startup you´ll loose additional RAM if you don´t delete them.
The remaining RAM is ready to be used as space for sampling and sample editing, that is the numbers to keep track on. CF don´t mean sh*t samplingwise

Here we go----------start your MPC up and delete out the unwanted factory samples,kits,sequences(Dont worry when u turn ur MPC off and back on they'll be back---------Read the Manual and create an autoload or turn the autoload from internal memory option:OFF(if you want the MPC to load empty--u can turn that back on too,DONT WORRY!!)... now u got all the availiable ram free'd up....to save valuable RAM(sample time) sample Drum breaks in MONO(find the stronger channel),same thing for all your samples(even when i get the 128mb of RAM-i'll still probably sample a lotta of my stuff MONO). U can get the RAM cheap if u get 3rd party ram-check the post on ram specs and lists of compatiable stuff) or roll wit the AKA EXM-128 i think its like $120 USA or somethin 3rd party joints is like $30-75 depending on brand and where u buy it. Not to be a D@#K but READ THE MANUAL, know it,study it, read the updated revised 2.1 manual too (download the pdf from AkaiPro.com/archives) Its your new BIBLE...
