problems with 1000 screen display

I was chopping up samples yesterday and my screen changed abruptly from its usual bright color to a very dark shade, outlined with the original brightness. everything is still legible and all, but it doesnt seem good. i turned off and turned back on and the same thing happened. it takes a few minutes for it to darken. ANYONE HAVE THIS PROBLEM??? maybe the display is going??? thanks!
