For a potential buyer, are there ways to know whether or not you are getting an MPC 1000 with the new pads that don't crap out. Aside from opening up the MPC of course.

So far it seems as though most of the new MPCs that tend to have the pad fix:

Are black mpcs with a black rear panel.

Include a 128mb memory card

Come packaged in the black Akai box with picture of the MPC on the front.

Corners of the pads do not squish down. Older sensors were round, the new sensors are more square.

People have been reporting that if the serial number on the boxstarts with (21)K1 there is a chance it will have the fix.

I believe I also heard somewhere that if the MPC was manufactured or shipped out after a certain date then it is more likely to have the pad fix.

Am I missing anything here?

Is there any definitive way to guarantee that you are getting an MPC 1000 with good pads?

When feeling the pads, should they feel soft and squishy or relatively flat and solid under the rubber?

Lets put together some kind of check list to help prospective buyers dodge the faulty MPCs.

dude the information has been said maybe 20 times, a few times on the first page of the forum

forget all that you just said.

TO SEE IF YOU HAVE REAL PADS, PULL UP ON A CORNER OF A CORNER PAD. IF THE CORNER OF THE CORNER PAD COMES UP ABOVE THE PAD FRAME, YOU HAVE THE NEW PADS. IF IT DOESNT, IT DOESNT

that's all.

someone took pictures of this...could someone please put them here for the slowpokes?
