well i dont have an mpc but i do know how its used, and I do KNOW WHAT 16 levels is i was asking how can i do it on soundforge/reason without having to use manually change sample pitches... in other words is there a function that does this automatically for me besides setting hi and lo keys in reason samplers...

wow.... .....I created a song with homemade samples and sequenced MIDI the week I got my first MPC (without a manual).....Not bragging either 'cause I'm sure I'm not alone. It's just that easy.....that's why it's such a popular machine......What have you been doing with it for 4 months?..........Have you read the manual?...Is it plugged in? .....

Really don't mean to hate......but you're not making it easy....

I'm unaware of a way to do what you want in Soundforge.....Since you're here though, you might as well take the plunge and buy an MPC......many (hardware) samplers besides the MPC make the task easy though -

fader yeah i dont need an mpc, you can do the MOST of the same functions much more efficiently on the pc and get better sound quality; and i dont have the cash to buy an mpc so i stick with my axiom .

Aight ... the thing is... u need to LISTEN TO A LOT OF MUSIC.. we can ALL DO THAT.. sounds come from somewhere.. and even if u though ur mpc would have sounds in it.. they would come from somebody who would have made them and played them.. *im talkin about sound kits that come with workstations*.....
so if ur not okay with sampling stuff from here and there using creativity and ''stealing'' the Frequency and impulsion of the sound instead of litteraly stealing its essence and meaning... WHICH ARE NOOOOOOOT THE SAME AT ALL... then 2008's gonna be a hard year for u lol!!

Producers dont Steal sounds... they put stuff together so it makes something beautiful .. sometimes simply useful... See it that way.. when u buy a keyboard.. uve just asked a whole band to record note per note each and every sound they could produce so u could retrigger all of them in ur compositions.. to me that used to be straight robbery PLUS slavery...

But then again... u go ''hey... i could do it myself and be ORIGINAL'' (im winking at a LOT of us) then u start sampling... and No there are no sound generators on the mpc... and kits ull come across are pretty whack... and no legendary producers use naked kits all the time (''yeah but the Neps''... at least they tweak them.. sometimes )...

So, my messsage... pay attention to music... a lot of attention..

and to me THE ONLY THING THAT PRODUCES SOUND BY ITSELF are Oscillators... its electricity at its purest form and u shape it... when u play a guitar.. u ARE NOT DOING SOMETING NATURAL.... ahaha ... mpcs could be made out of wood too:P

I hope im not sounding harsh... i dont mean to be.. heres my email if u want to share about stuff... i do a lot of things and i have friends who work as Ad music makers, movie scores composers, beatmakers, djs, singers, ... i see myself as a little passionnate wannabe:) : [email protected]

but yeah.. basically... use ur ears... and not just in front of ur machine:P

i do like Ldizzy's post. if you do pay attention to things you will find yourself & what scene you are slave to. you go out & (possibly helped along with a little something ) lock yourself into it & may find yourself interrogating the beats, tuning into just an element & learning, when you should really be having fun, haha, but is true, you see a pattern forming then you think, ok, i'll put this here... but don't you think that when you make an accidental noise that is percussive you should've captured it. and also it's very ok to nod to your older brothers in acknowledgment & use a little piece, if you parallel it with some of your own. good. it's all about percentages. please excuse me you mentioned oscillators which rattled my cage somewhat. this is a fun pastime, more so when you move through the filters & fiddle with dirty low frequencies. so yes, recommended synth and/or other sound modules with lot's of knobs to tweak. make sounds that give you the horn innit
only thing with samplers you must keep it short, so you have these random pieces & get em to fit like a jigsaw, time them right & bobs your uncle.
