Midi out mpc4k to mid in synth. This will enable 4k to control synth.
Midi out synth to midi in 4k, this will allow 4k to record synth performance.
Done.

You can still record synth performance into a 4k midi type track.
This part confuses me. Why do I have to deal with the audio if I only want midi?
Wont I be able to record midi signals in MPC and hear it from MPC's audio out, headphone, etc?
Lampdog wrote:Is the synth ONLY a midi controller (no audio out)?
No it contains sounds and as well as being able to act as a controller.
It does have an audio out. I've made more than a handful of beats by sampling via the audio outs.
But I'm looking to use midi in order to have more control over sounds, similar to recording midi on DAW.
Can this be done?
Lampdog wrote:The actual sound(s) associated with the performance u wanna record is within the 4k itself?{/quote]
No its in the synth, the mpc doesnt have any sounds.
Lampdog wrote:This would mean, again, that you record the synth midi performance into a 4k midi type track. I'm not really proficient with my 4k yet but I understand the overview (previous 8 yr 2kxl owner). You gotta check the manual to see exactly what menus will get you these results big dog.
Been going over the manual during the past 3 days or so. Really not clear enough.
I appreciate the help fam thanks.
