This could go on forever.
It all comes down to the producer not the record!!! Period!!!
Youth and inexperience are rampant on these forums. I speak from experience. Listen to your elders kiddies, I know I still do.
I still feel sampling is overrated and I don't mean to "haunt" any forum.
I post here because I am a record collector (and I happen to own an MPC).
That would be true regardless of if I sample the records or not.
I buy records for the music, not just for that one drum break ohh ohhhhoooohhh that one little drum break.
I am not confused about anything and I didn't miss the point of anything.
Did you?
I say sampling is overrated because I have been collecting records for over 17 years and I still prefer to sit behind my drum set with my pals on bass, keys, guitar, etc....
Any musician will agree that there is no way to duplicate the organic feel of LIVE music with a sample(r). Not even close. Not even with an MPC10,0000. Not to mention I'm not ripping off someone else's groove.
Good luck with your records dude.
Peace,
Heavy
do you make hiphop? Do you dj?
theres more to sampling than just jacking someones groove....Theres more to sampling then the surface "jacking" that everyone who doesnt do it, think it is....
Its just how you percieve it.
You can have just as much creativity in sampling, as playing a live instrument....its just from a differant perspective or direction, a differant form of music.......Ive made tracks where you wouldnt be able to tell it was a sample, and made a sample into synth sounds.
And on the creating the live feel....its not the live feel that samplers neccesarily go for, I actually like the way my mpc sounds (not live). its the quality of the record, the quality of the recording, its the sound of a chopped sample.....its a looped break, yeah you can tell its looped, but thats the point.
Its definately the producer, not the record.....but the records that i choose to sample, define me as a producer.
