Hey
[email protected],
I am by no means an expert or a super noob but I think I can give you some good information.
From what I have read and heard the pdx-3000mix is exactly the same as the pdx-3000 the only major difference being that the pdx-3000mix has curved tone arm.
Curved tone arms (s arms) are more suited for "mixing" a mix dj would really benefit from this tone arm configuration not a scratch dj. Curved arms apparently have better sound quality but skip more during scratching (that is what i have heard unless they are set up correctly it kinda defeats the purpose of getting a s-arm)
The Technics 1210 etc have the curved tone arm but when they are set up correctly (weight anti skate etc) with the right cartridge something like the Shure M44-7 they are pretty much skip proof. The techs are the only TT's with curved tone arms that I have seen people use for scratching.
It is not impossible to scratch with a curved tonearm but straight tone arms are the way to go.
I recently bought my first TT and Mixer I bought Stanton STR8. 150 and a Vestax PMC-05ProIII VCA mixer
I can vouch for both of those products and say they are awesome I am really happy with my purchase.
I was either going to get
PDX-3000, Technics 1210 Mk2, or the STR8. 150
I really liked the vestax, it is also the cheapest of the 3 but it has a plastic body and that turned me off the product.
The STR8. 150 has everything the Technics had plus more and they were cheaper so I bought them (they are built like tanks).
If I was going to get any Vestax TT I would get the PDX-2000 MKll
They are pretty hard to find in Australia so that choice was gone.
If I was you I would probably get the Vestax PMC-05ProIII VCA mixer (good price gangsta mixer) or if you want to go all out I would get a Rane TTM 56 or a Ecler HAK 360 (I think that is cheaper than the Rane).
Check this site out as well
http://www.skratchworx.com/reviews_turntables.phpAiight I wrote a lot but I'll add my final thought here
If you are really crash hot on getting a Vestax turntable get a PDX-2000 MKll or a PDX-3000 (both straight arm)
Go for a straight arm turn table and look into the Stanton STR8-150 or the Technics.
I recommend the Stantons but you should go to a shop that sells Dj equipment in and test all the tables out.
Aiight as for the mixer I would just go for the Vestax PMC-05ProIII VCA mixer it has everything you need.
I hope I have helped.
I all really tired now I cbf reading through it all and editing it, I hope it makes sense lols.
Christmas is wack.
