Damixx you gotta change your pic now. that sh*t ain't quite accurate no more

Sample storage and performance; Serial ata drives and scsi drives give top notch performance. Useful for really tricked out pads and synth sounds.
You can put up to 4 gigs of ram in your PC; now 8 gigs of ram and better (mac g5 available now and soon the amd 64 systems)
damixx wrote:Your beat slicing appz like Recycle are really accurate and you can export those slices as an .akp file (akai s100/3000 program file) which you can then import to your Virtual Z8/ Exs24/Mach 5/Gigastudio 160/Halion/Kontakt/Battery you can also export as .rex and really flip a loop sample in reason (reverses, individual filters for each slice etc...)
damixx wrote:Effects: Waves platinum bundle Tc Native etc.... too may to name; these are very high quality studio effects.
damixx wrote:The only disadvantage is how good hardware sequencing is on any mpc. That's it. I outgrew the 4000. Timestretching and pitch shifting vocals for remixing is a task suited for a pc/mac not the mpc 4000; the 4000 is adequate but slow and yes it's good at timestretching loops; not 3 - 7 minutes of vocals and backgrounds.
damixx wrote:I did have to have the pads to bang out my beats and it is heaven. I just entered a new world; don't get it twisted; I can freak any mpc and all it's features; even the technical ones on the spot (advantage - me) And I can capture this on the pc/mac platform in any studio too. The mpd 16 fits in my bag as well does the oxygen 8; plug me in and i'm ready to rock **** anywhere. They are usb powered and battery powered (rock the **** on your laptops man anywhere anytime) That's what it's about with me man.
damixx wrote:Much respect to y'all who have the MPc 4000; it is dope as hell and the box can inspire fantastic compositions. The Mpc 4000 is akai's greatest sampler/drum machine ever. I didn't just give up the mpc 4000; I gave up the Triton too; it's just my pref to go portable and virtual too. I have lots of room in the studio now. And I'm having fun because i'm inspired with all this virtual technology;
Main apps heavily in use
Reason 2.0/2.5
Sonic Foundry Vegas 4/Acid 4 Pro/ Sound Forge 6/Cd Architecht 5
Steinberg Cubase 5.1 (sx ain't there yet)
Recycle 2.0
Digital Performer 3/4
Peace
Peak vst 2.6/3

damixx wrote:As far as the laptop; I can plug it in and use oxygen and the midi usb pads without powercords or the batteries (for oxygen and the pad) most of us who own laptops have a spare battery and who in the world would do an entire session running on dc power? LOL. Just pokin duke! When the laptop is powered by battery; the same way you could plug in the mpc 4000 in I could plug in the laptop and play my keys and bang my drums; The mpc 4000 is gigantic too; too big to carry around but all good if you found a solution to carry it. You can't jam anywhere anytime without a powercord though; and yes I have done it on a plane; boat and at starbucks waitin for my homeys..
damixx wrote:Recycle as AKP; Been there done that; Aksys; pad editor; been there done that too. B4 aksys and the mpc 4000; we had Mike the Man Goins with the mpc editor for the 2000 and 3000.
damixx wrote:Recycle as rex file in cubase or in rex player or redrum in reason is monster compared to what you can do to a loop on the mpc. There is no comparison.
damixx wrote:Again like I said; the only thing is the sequencer; but I can buy a second hand old school mpc 2000 for 500 bucks or a used asq10 for 125.00. (this is the sequencer section alone of the mpc without pads)
Anyhow; windows 98 SE and windows xp have no issues; NONE; and I'm not a techie; I plug **** in; install drivers (mostly if their specialized otherwise no need to install drivers) and the isht works. I have cubase with the midex 8 and there's zero latency.
damixx wrote:The Mpc is wicked but is vast showing it's age in this time of robust technologies. There's no need to go back and forth and bounce tracks in and out when you can do it all in a pc/wac eeer um mac; vocals and all.
damixx wrote:Pop your headphones on; fire up reason or cubase and you can create edit mix, master and burn a song to an audio cd or mp3 that anyone could play anywhere.
damixx wrote:it's a matter of time before somebody like propellerheads makes a virtual mpc (re-mpc) it's over after that.
damixx wrote:Kalei; katts like you rockin the mpc is what made me sell mine. Dealin with kattts that plunk their dough down and think they can call themselves producers/beatbangers or whatever because they did so and tryin to correct instead of collect info makes you stand out like a sore thumb.
damixx wrote:There really is beauty in silence; you need to discover that dawg!
damixx wrote:Them katts that did a write up in billboard magazine must have had some starbucks then.
Them katts at the last hip hop convention who showed much love and support as well as respect for the project must've been doing it out of the kindness of their heart.
This incredible movement that is coming about because of the efforts of a few must be some sort of smoke screen.
damixx wrote:this is why noteworthies don't post on bulletin boards. It's all good. Oceanstate and the other regular katts nevah came off like this; there's been nothing but love and unity up until this point on the real.
