I doubt that akai release a mpc bigger than the 4000 maybe something between the 2000XL and 3000.

IF they indeed are releasing another one it will probably have atleast firewire (maybe optional though) and USB 2.0. Those 2 things alone is great news. They should even consider putting in a regular network jack in it, or atleast that yamaha mlan format.

On the downside though, the OS wont be ready for atleast 2 years after its release if you look at Akais track record  I sure as hell wont buy one until all the features they'll sell it with will be materialized.

If I were you I would learn the basics first than to worry about more advanced gear. I will talk to the great Naoya of Akai Yokohama by phone tomorrow to see if is true since the MPCs are made in Japan. It`s about skills not the gear you have. I ask you do you know the history of the Akai MPCs? Do you know that some of todays hit are being made on 60s, 3000s and 2000XLs and it was only recently that some of the big time producers have which to the 4000 which is only two yrs old. Get it together. Check Akai directly for such info and questions there been too many jokers in the past asking and creaming for the lastest gear without knowing how to use the gear that they had. Master it first!!!! 8) If you got a hot beat, piece or part it doesn`t matter what you got!! Mind over matter. The greatest piece of gear you can get is your intelligence. Find out what you don`t know learn the machine. If you have never been on this type of hardware you must master the process and use your intelligence. Everybody`s ignorant in the beginning like a new baby, we all had to discover and learn the knowledge we didn`t know. It`s not the gear it your knowledge and through time your experience. :D

Thanks and well put Blue. I think we should put the MPC 5,000,000 thing to bed. The subject doesn't have much to do with me making a new beat today. When Christmas comes around and you feel like you just gotta be sitting on Santas lap, then bring it back up, until then get back on your machines and show us your skills. MPC 60 still kicks much a*s, it came out in the early 90's and is butt naked compared to the 4k so don't fret, use it and abuse it.

The tecnology advanced that's why the mpc should like they did with the 1k.
if you compare a software with 2 years old is nothing nowadays, I believe mpc 4k should have some improvements, vga adapter and other things that Kalei said, it will be good for everybody and now akai has a competitor with new feautures that's why I was wondering if they will release.

I talked to the great Naoya today and I said "It the MPC 4000 ever going to fall off," He said NO!! It is going to have the O.S upgraded soon to the official version and future upgrades later in the year. Software usually upgrades in 6 months to a years and hardware in 3 to 4 but that really isn`t the point to all this Akai, Yamaha, Roland, or Vaporware could drop a new drum machine/sampler tomorrow and one still wouldn`t know how to use it and get your music to the level you would wanted it to be because of one`s lack of skills. I assume you have a computer because you are sending email why don`t you get a software midi sequencer or if you`re using a DAW just controller your MPC sequencers from it. Edit the sequences in your DAW software you don`t have to wait for a new dreamware around the corner. If you learn the basics we wouldn`t get suckered into such GAS sickness thinking that the latest gear is going to make your music better. If you learn how to use what you have it is no contest. Ecmix if I understand correctly you don`t even have a MPC yet and never had one. Action speak louder than words, Like Snoop said you better go out and get your own, Sitting on the fence won`t get you anywhere in this life. Let it be learn the basics. Educate yourself or buy what`s in your budget learn it, master it, and love it like your own child because as you grow in skill and knowledge, it makes more and more beautilful music for you.

One Big ass Tip it is never, never, ever, ever, ever the machines fault that your music don`t sound tight, bumping, or hot because the machine is dumb it does what you tell it to do. It is also your lack of skills, knowledge, and patience to learn how to use the machine and get the most out of it. But all these things you can learn in time if you got the heart and the good sense to realize Hey I don`t know so I better learn this tool since I paid out all this money.

I know some others may say they know their stuff and its the machine fault and it sucks I need more technology to make my music making easier, but deep down the suckers wouldn`t know the difference between midi tracks and digi audio tracks.

Let the vaporware alone and let`s get back to learning this machine like those who back before us cuz to think about it the way we are using the machine to make music wasn`t it`s original purpose. The spirit of man over machine to have it dance to his or her tune it what it is all about. To tell the truth the makers of the machine (Akai) have no idea how or why we use the MPC the way we do. They have to have outsiders come in to the company make the music demos for the machines. You can listen to JD and Armand Van all you want but I don`t dig their stuff. I`m going listen to the man P R I M O and today`s Just Blaze. One love everybody.
:D

Mr. Naoya Nakamura is a synthesizer player and hardware engineer in the Yokohama branch office of Akai Japan. He has been designing and working with MPCs since the 2000 series. He is also the English go to guy for Akai Yokohama/Tokyo area. The guy is cool and explains how his intention was to make the 4000 into a synthesizer with aksys system for cool music. He is really into that electro/techno kind of sound and when I sat with him he made up some crazy, analog Moog like sounds and compositions with the 4000 using aksys flying thru the system like how is that and I all I could say was it great. The man is very skilled with aksys and the ease of use I realized I didn`t know shit. Plus he has every model MPC on display that every came out. If you check the Akai Japan site there was a MPC event at a store in Aikihabara for beginners which he hosted around 6/23 check on it. He`s the guy with glasses demostrating all of the wares with the MPC 4000 black shirt on. However I can`t say if he is really a hip hop fan but he gets alot of calls from users here. And the tutoriing was free and he works with everyone and really loves his job. Plus if you have DPS and other samplers by Akai he helps with that too. When in doubt I call him. But the first time I met him everything was over my head, I listened, wrote notes and ask 2hrs worth of questions. Now I realized that alot of the basics I didn`t know at the time that I ask was pretty much in the manual for the advanced users. He was cool and patient with a newbie at the time so I respect him for not saying it in the **** manual idot because at the time basically I didn`t know shit about exactly what the difference between notch filters, BP, LFOs, Phase, Evelopes, setting the duration, note on:D
