Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
By Earnest Magilakutti Fri Jul 23, 2004 2:09 am
Everywhere I look I see MPC 4000 is there something wrong with me...I have pushed my MPC 60 as far as it will go...Everything that I would like to do requires me to either by a seperate rackmount sampler to use with my MPC 60 because of it's limited sample time and lack of filters...At first I was going to by an Akai S5000 then after thinking about it I figured that although It would make for a great setup with tons of potential and quite abit less than a MPC 4000 I would be using two samplers...The more I think about it the more I want a MPC 4000...Huge hard drive tons of memory, filters and effects built in what more could a samplist want.I am however not willing to pay $2300 for an LE model or $2800 for the version with the CD burner and hard drive what am I to do.Does anybody know of any place where I can get one used for between $1600-$1900.I would go the ebay route but I am very wary of buying things that expensive over the internet from somebody I have never had contact with. There are some great deals as I type this on there but these cats have like almost 0 feedback.Does anybody know where I can get an MPC 4000 from a reputable dealer for the kind of jack I have to spend? As it stands now I have about 600 disk full of music and sounds that I can't even begin to keep in any sort of order.Lets see each MPC 60 disk holds about 13 seconds of samples muliply that by 600 and thats 130 minutes worth of samples the MPC 4000 can store that times a 1000 on it's hard drive. Please help me!!!

sounds like you want the 4000. call the ebayers w/o feedback or have them call you to see if the mpc is legit. go for the 4000 if you have the mpc 60 and don't want it anymore you should sell it one here...i have 2k so i really help you decide which one to get but i am interested to hear whats what..

only buy from ebay through a person with a TON of feedback...foreal

if they have the $500 dollar paypal buyer protection policy listed than they are probably legit, if not, don't do it

I just got scammed, learn from me!

I did another purchase for an mpc right after that, and followed my guidelines and it should be here tommorow

oh, and why don't you get the SCSI upgrade for the mpc 60 and use a zip drive? just a thought

Also see if you can do a C.O.D. I have sold something to somebody this way but i have never purchase anything this way but as far as i know if you do it with ups things should be straight. A person with out any feed back shouldnt have a problem with this if he is legit. I didnt and everything work out.

The MPC 60 is being sold as I type this I am taking a hit on it as I'm not asking much considering it has the upgrade installed.I talked to a friend at Sam Ash and they have a nice Layaway plan that I might take advantage of.20% down sixty days(or more if you make regular payments).I am going to probably use that plan unless I come across one within a 200 mile radius of where I live for a decent price.I've got the phone numbers for every music gear retailer and Akai dealer with in 200 miles so Monday I'm going to call each and every one of them untill I find a deal.Wish me luck cause I really don't want to spend $2800+tax for a new one.

"..I really don't want to spend $2800+tax for a new one..."

This is the first indication that this is something you may want to look into further ???
