paying to work with established artist

either way, its a bad situation you've got here. if its for a beat, you should not pay anything no matter who it is. if its someone who can get you some shine, do it for the credit and the exposure and do it for free. but do not pay anyone to do a beat for them. and then its work for hire too, thats some more bullsh*t whether you're making beats or spitting. you should at least get your credit and publishing. then to top it off you gotta fly yourself out there to do it? F*CK THAT.

Sounds to me like B Real is trying to find a new way to hustle since noone is checking for him any more and he aint selling no records. He knows there's a lot of kids out there who would definitely pay that with the quickness to say they worked with B Real though. Not a bad hustle on his part, but shady as hell.


all that being said, people pay for features all the time to have a name artist on your track. it works to expose you to a larger audience, get the right people listening to you who could put you on, get DJs to play your record, etc. look what it did for someone like Florida with T Pain. Flo-rida was unknown, but T Pain was real hot at the minute. You can bet T Pain got paid nice for that, plus publishing.

He would prolly get more money if he asked for 2500 or even 15. I still wouldnt pay but allot more ppl would with out thinkin twice. I guess thats what this place is for...thinking twice

You need to be able to recognize when something is going to help you or hurt you.

Did you know that under a work for hire contract, not only will you not be compensated, but they don't even have to give you print credit for the work? So, what are you getting out of this? You've got nothing in print to prove its your work, you've got no money to show for it, and you have to pay for it. If you feel you've got the heat, you shouldn't have to be paying someone to hear it, they'll know it when they hear it and they'll come to you.
