Bad news kalei the 4k will not be getting the chop/phrase

Check out the manual and I studied the 2500 up close and personal in the comfort of my home. All I can say is the only features that are outstanding compared to the 4k is the patched phrase on pads and the fact that I can edit the sample that is assigned to a pad. However the chop feature is automation which I learned to do myself by notes per bar and by using recycle every blue moon (I rarely use it these days). For me I noticed that the 2500 ChopShop doesn`t convert divided samples to a sequence like the 4k only a program like the 2Kxl series. The 2500 does have new edits like the combine regions and divide region however these are similar to the edits of region slice and merge samples edit I already have in the 4k. As a live performance piece I believe it will be great and ease to use. However as I work with using the Z8 sampler envelope like Live`s , and intergration with Reason. With the new Pro Tools 7 midi improvement midi controller will be a great asset. Like I was told the 2500 is a mid level unit request by a great group Hifana for more live performance functions to be built in. If I was playing out or moving up from 1k or 2kxl I would get it. But working with the 4k through experience I can do pretty much what I want manually besides what I mention about about the Patched Phrase on pads. With Live 5 already midi sync to my gear it would be redundant anyways.

5 yrs from now I will have learned even deeper functions on the 4k.

For the new users and live show djs have fun with the 2500 and change the club sequence.


Truely like 9th Wonder/Madlib/Pete Rock/Kev Brown/Just Blaze and others say its how well you understand your gear and developing your ear.



Out of everything the EAR is the most important to making music. You can make music with anything really.
