There is nothing wrong with the sound of the XL and many producers do load drum sounds into them..and not just use them for sequencing. I dumped the MPC 3000 in favor of the 2500. I have been using the MPC 3000 and the XL for quite some time. I am not missing any magical..warm...grit..phatt...or any other term you want to give to the sound of any MPC.

All the best producers out there use the MPC-3000 or ASR-10 for drums and sample chops, not these new toys that akai has been releasing!

They use them baccause that's what they've been using for years. They have no reason to buy an MPC1000 just because it has a new OS, or a 4000 just because it's got a bunch of filters. When you use what you have, you learn to make your old gear do whatever you want. MPC's arn't famous because of the fatness in sound, their well known because they are easy to use. Any mpc can make good music.

I just feel loading stock sounds on each isn't a good test, sampling the same sound into each one is, because you're comparing the converters on the inputs as well as the outputs, checking how close the sound of what you recorded IN sounds to the actual source, and how the difference is in the sound played back to your speakers or headphones. Since most mpc users sample their own sounds as opposed to using the factory sound disks this is a more realistic test because it's actually the way they actually would use it in their setups.

Co-sign. Just loading sounds you're not comparing the input A/D stage, which is a VERY important part of how a sampler sounds.

Do you have a source for that? I liked the Documentary but the only things I heard about the album that Game was currently in the studio with Dre, Kanye, Cool & Dre and that he was trying to get Just Blaze and Justus League to do some beats for him.
