As far as Rompler vs Sampler vs Analog synths vs software synth...this is a real waste of energy debating (but I have nothing to do anyway). I will always be a hardware guy first. There is nothing like a dedicate unit that serves a purpose.
I never factor in costs for these items since they are all pretty reasonable today. I use all of these items...minus the analog synths which I sold both of mine a few months ago because they were collecting dust.
But sound is a good thing to debate with these tools because not everything is created equal. Some say that certain instruments sound better in one Rompler over the next. I think they are all pretty close myself....but I am a gear head so I just buy at least one from all my favorite companies.
