hermit - yeah i know what you mean...
i'm pretty sure you're doing it right. keep in mind, the only time i used swing is on my 16th notes really... you know, like when you have a kick go "ba-boom-boom" the "ba" part is the part that should swing... the "boom boom" is 1/8th notes.. i never put swing on my 8th notes.
anyways, when i apply swing to different tracks, it does just that.. it doesn't overwrite swing on the other tracks..
when you're checking the swing on a track and it doesn't have what you entered before, maybe what it displays is actually NOT what the swing on that particular track... maybe it's displaying the swing that you last applied to a track.. in that case, you would probably have to change the swing everytime you want to add something to a certain track.
instead of reapplying the swing to the same track, i usually go to an unused track, apply the swing setting, then go back to the track i want to add to with that swing setting... i do it this way, because if you apply 1/16 TC with 66% swing to a track, and that track already has a snare roll that was applied at 1/32(3), it'll **** up that snare roll and just make it a 16th note or something.
does this make sense? it's confusing myself, haha.. but like i said, i just leave all my tracks on 1/16 time correction with 66% swing.. then when i want to add a snare roll or something, i turn it the time correction to 1/32(3), play the sequence, hold down "note repeat" and hit the snare pad when i want my snare roll in there...
also, just a heads up.. any time correction you see with a (3) means it's a triplet, and you can't change the swing, cause a triplet is its own kinda swing. example: 1/16(3) ,1/8(3), 1/32(3), etc. etc...
lemme know if this helps, or if you want me to elaborate on something better.
in-dent - i've never had any problems with the note capacity being too little, but that's probably cause i just work with samples.. for cats that are running like 7 keyboard and 4 racks at once, the 100,000 note capacity might be a problem
my friend has the 4000, he likes it... there's a lot of shit he don't use, but some people might find that stuff useful.
my friend also chops his samples on the computer... the 4000 and the computer work well together.
me, i'd rather get the 2500.. i guess because it comes with 8 outputs and effects standard, plus it's cheaper... it has what i need, and it looks really dope.. (the black/red colors are effing gangster)
