The MPC Ren review will be available soon but will be another thread.

I don't think anybody knows enough about the Ren to draw a comparison. I will say this though. JJ has way more credibility than the new Akai. He really supports his OS and is in touch with the MPC user. Plus the attention to detail like the Paino Roll like interface with the Midi Notes. when you hit a pad it displays the name of the sound. The seamless midi control of sound modules and the ability to turn individual pads into chords. The Modulation matrix is even top notch.

We shall see how the Ren compares. Quality control isn't really a strong suit of the new Akai though.

But the JJ OS is still not bug free. So if Akai releases an OS with bugs but releases frequent OS updates which adds new features, fixes the bugs and add new ones...that's ok?

The new Akai just doesn't have credibility and they don't really deserve all of the anxious anticipation and demand that they're receiving for the Ren. They dont have a history of making quality products. Look at all the parts issues that MPC 1k and 2500 users experienced. MPCStuff.com and VSTservice.com are able to make a living off it. If you look in the 5K forums it seems like half the threads are regarding bugs or issues. Top that off those users have paid close to 2000 dollars on the machine, some paid even more than the reduced price and a AKAI rep said they have no plans on releasing an OS update to address those issues.

JJOS made the 1K and 2500 incredible products. If he was able to work on an OS for the 5K I'm sure the 5K would be incredible, but without the JJOS the new AKAI MPCs leave a lot to be desired. I hope the Ren is an awesome product, but we'll see.

Actually the 2500 is a pretty good product even without the JJOS. It was a necessary upgrade from the 2KXL. CF Reader, HD, and CD/DVD drive, USB CPU connectivity...JJOSXL just took it to a whole new level.

MPC Stuff and VST have supported all MPCs over the years. You talk about the lack of quality of Numark/Akai MPCs...but they are still equal to or better built than the Akai Japan built MPC 2000/2000XL. If you feel the build of these MPCs are inferior, why have this conversation? Use a more superior product. But don't waste your time looking as there are none.

I completely understand what you are saying though. Don't buy into the hype of the Ren. But for me, it's the MPC I have been waiting years for. I can't say this enough. I'm excited. But I do not think it will be perfect by any stretch of the imagination. The success of the product will rest on support. Akai has never been about upgrading the OS of MPCs frequently. This goes back to 80's. While the 5000 hasn't received incremental updates it did receive a monster upgrade in OS2.

As far as the JJ OS, that forum consist of numerous threads about bugs and bug fixes. And the forum is heavily moderated to remove anything perceived as negative about the JJ OS. This entire forum is heavily slanted toward the JJOS. Hopefully, the Ren will get equal love but I doubt it.

In the end.....you are still using MPC hardware created by Numark/Akai...and nothing will change that.

If that first part isn't a problem for you then you're in the minority.

The second part should be in a top ten of your ridiculous statements. If you don't understand at this point why this forum is so JJ heavy...whatever, it doesn't even bare explanation. The JJ section purposely has mods removing any negative posts?...maybe the most ridiculous thing you've ever said here. We know you're an apologist fan and you post to infinity trying to deny the obvious.

If your favorite company finds a way to match the innovation and tech support of one single man it's not like the rest of this forum is going to do anything other than say "cool enjoy the Ren and Studio".

You can point out JJ's bugs all you want, but you then have to address the proven fact he fixes them and quick. It's obvious to anyone that and the techniques available with JJ features are the meat of that forum. That you see it as some type of conspiracy is beyond laughable. JJ is proven, Akai has some proving to do.

Honestly this whole thread is nonsensical. It's like asking "If Obama loses will whoever wins be better?" It's the future, no one knows now obviously.
